Collection of candles for cemeteries

Television and other Subcarpathian Rzeszow city began collecting candles until November 1 to Lychakiv and Yanov cemeteries in Lviv.

"Action «Light of Memory» is a joint project of the Consulate General of Poland in Lviv, Lviv Polish Radio and Television of Rzeszow, "- said one of the project coordinators Beate Volyanskaya.

Beata Wolanska added that last year's action involved schoolchildren, students, Hartser and then they collected over 60 thousand candles. In this hope to collect more.

Coordinator say that Ukraine has no custom light candles on the graves of November 1, so Lychakivsky and Yaniv cemetery where lie thousands died, a few years ago only a few Polish graves candles.

The idea of collecting candles, first organized in 2005 on the initiative of the Polish radio journalists in Ukraine was "lighting" cemeteries where resting many famous Poles. For example, Mary Konopnicka, Gabriela Zapolsky Arthur Hrother, Severin Hoschynski and Kazimierz Bartel.

Over 3 years of burning candles and Yaniv Cemetery. "Thanks to the project, Poles from Lviv can light candles for all Polish graves are forgotten and nameless. Candles burn on graves and Ukrainian, Russians and Armenians ", - added Beata Wolanska.

For several years November 1 Lychakiv cemetery in Lviv is a joint memorial prayer at the burial place of Polish and Ukrainian soldiers for the purpose of establishing the Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation.
